A summary of training for young athletes during the Winter season: October-March.
5-8 Year olds: Friday 5.00-6.00 at Ashurst Hall, Stantonbury Leisure Centre – contact Gordon Fallow
9-11 year olds:
Monday 5.30-6.30pm and 6:30-7:30pm at Stantonbury Athletics Stadium – contact Mick Lee
Endurance and Cross Country – Tuesday 6.00-7.45pm at Stantonbury Track and weekends at various locations – Contact Barry Hearn
11 year olds and over: Youth development (details below)
Mondays: Two sessions: 5.30-6.30pm and 6.30-7.30pm in Oakgrove School, Middleton (using Athletics 365). Contact David Millett. Prior booking required. This is the ideal starting point.
However, we aim to provide a progressive pathway for athletes. Specific sessions will also be scheduled outside these times. These arrangements are made by mutual agreement and are a progression towards a more tailored programme, before event specialisation takes place. They often involve working with a variety of coaches. There are opportunities across all events.
The content of training is based upon Athletics 365 principles and curriculum. Our intention is to enable athletes to progress to identified levels, building skills and physical conditioning.
