Southern Athletics League

The Southern Athletics League is a track & field league with combined scoring for Senior Men & Women. In addition to older runners we also have a huge contingent of U20’s involved & we also invite U17’s if they are of a significant high standard.

We cater for the full range of events such as sprints , hurdles , middle distance , long distance , jumps & throws. The SAL is the strongest athletics league in the South of England region & currently we are in Division One.

The SAL was formed in 2011 with- MMKAC being one of the founder members – born out from the old Southern Men’s League & the Southern Women’s League making it a joint scoring league. We finished 2nd in that first year of inception.

We had previously finished 3rd in the old SML in 2006 but over the next few years, there was a growing consensus for mixed competition to save on club travel costs & less pressure on officials.

Over the years we have had the likes of Greg Rutherford, Chris Clarke, Craig Pickering, Joey Duck & Mervyn Luckwell perform in our colours in this league & it did them no harm.

With more & more clubs joining the growing SAL, it has become evident that the quality of top class competition has been increasing in performance levels.

All those members of the club with a fondness for T & F competition are welcomed with open arms. We are always on the lookout for talent. I have always said that if we ever got our very best team out, MMKAC would be a force for any team in the country. I can be contacted on
