The Greensand Ridge Relay, organised by Richard Pownall on behalf of the South Midlands Orienteering Club, based in Milton Keynes, included three teams from Marshall Milton Keynes among the forty four teams, competing over six stages from Waterside Park, Leighton Buzzard to Northill Church. The event is handicapped by age category, with the slowest teams starting early, with the aim that all teams would finish together if they ran their handicap times.
The Wasdell’s Wombles Team was led off by F65 Diane Baldwin who ran almost 23 minutes quicker than her handicap time. Dan Webber was almost 13 minutes ahead of his handicap time on the third leg. By the end of the fifth leg they were in the lead by 17 seconds, but could not hold off a fast-finishing Leighton Buzzard Team.
The Wasdell’s Waddlers Team finished just ahead of the MMK Originals Team that has competed in every race since 1992.
