26 January: Rachel Robinson is sixth and the men are 16th at the South of England Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields

Rachel Robinson had one of her best runs to finish sixth in the South of England Cross Country Championships. Only Linda Dewhirst (4th at Swindon in 1988 for Milton Keynes AC) has finished higher in the Women’s race at the South of England Cross Country Championships. Rachel was pipped on the line by Lauren Deadman of Havering for fifth place, both runners recording 28:30. Lara Bromilow had a fine run to finish 28th in 30:24, just 8 places lower than her best-ever 20th place at Brighton four years ago. F55, Debra Brent, who has led her age category in the Chiltern League, finished a creditable 361st in 38:50, but the lack of a fourth runner meant that the club did not feature in the team results.

The senior men, missing several key runners, finished 16th in the team results thanks to outstanding runs from Daniel Woodgate (56th in 49:48) and Elliot Hind (62nd in 50:04). Behind them, the scoring six for the team result had Paul Mizon 138th in 52:40, ian Wood 212th in 54:31, Stephen Young 295th in 56:11 and Jeremy Vick 322nd in 56:45. M65 Paul Mason completed the squad, finishing 1036th in 72:51.

Elsewhere, Callum Tripp had an excellent run to finish 45th in the Under 13 Boys race, while Finlay Gibbs and Matthew Dicks had a great battle in the Under 17 Men’s race to finish 32nd and 40th, respectively.
