February 13: Jack Meijer runs 8:02.79 for 3000m indoors

Jack Meijer, running in the Hawkeye Big 10 Invitational Indoor Meeting in Iowa, USA, smashed the club indoor record that he set a year ago. Lying second with four laps to go, he faded a little over the last lap, recording 8:02.79 in eighth place, to take 16 seconds off the record he set last year. The time is almost 10 seconds quicker than the club outdoor record!

After the race, Jack revealed he had missed a big cross country race a couple of weeks ago due to a mild dose of covid-19. The stage is set for a fantastic year of achievement for Jack in the lead-up to the Tokyo Olympics.
