With the sport in lock-down, people have been thinking of inventive ways of staying fit and healthy. This weekend was supposed to have been the National Senior Men’s 12-stage and Women’s 6-stage Road Relay Championships. It was cancelled along with thousands of other events.
However, a couple of runners proposed that the virtual relays be held instead, with each runner completing an isolated 5km run, using Strava to record their times. The idea took off slowly at first, but in recent days has exploded exponentially (like something else we know). By the deadline at 12 noon, the total entries was 4998. Runs can be completed between Saturday, 4 April and Wednesday, 8 April.
There are 24 entries for MMK:
Natasha Baker, Lara Bromilow, Imogen King, Alice Ritchie, Elle Roche, Abby Roskilly
Gary Blaber, Alfie Blaber, Sean Butler, Matthew Clarke, Thomas Cuthbertson, Thomas Dell, Elliot Hind, Chad Lambert, Steve Martin, Robert Paul Hickman, Jonathan Peters, Jack Pocock, Jamie Seddon, Michael Smith, Steve Tuttle, James Tuttle, Sam Winters, Ian Wood
